Join us on this Heritage Trail tour to learn more about DC’s Greater U Street neighborhood, where a nationally
significant African American community flourished in the early 20th century. Discover the history of this area, which is celebrated
for nurturing renowned leaders in civil rights, law, science, and the arts.
The tour will be led by, Jane Freundel Levey, a historian and writer specializing in the history of Washington, DC. Levey holds an M.A. in American Studies from George Washington University and a B.A. from Wellesley College. She is a frequent speaker on DC history topics in lectures and in radio, TV, and film. Among her writing credits is Washington Album: A Pictorial History of the Nation's Capital co-authored with University of Chicago alumnus, Bob Levey, AB'66.
Immediately afterward, join us for a well deserved bite at the historic Ben's Chili Bowl.
